BSHAA Congress 2017

Professional development in action

The two-day education programme includes national and international audiology experts, the majority of whom are addressing Congress for the first time. The programme develops the theme that the quality of a person's hearing affects all aspects of life, whether at work, in the family or in social and leisure situations.

Sessions cover all aspects of practice. Chances for hands-on practical demonstration will be included alongside the usual variety of academic talks, workshops, and the exhibition.

Keynote presentations include:

  • Chance to hear the latest findings from the world-leading study of Healthy Ageing from Frank Lin's team at John's Hopkins
  • An update from Prof Helene Amieva on what was arguably the breakthrough publication of the last year on the link between dementia and hearing
  • Top tips from Gyl Kasewurm on how to take your business up a notch
  • Advice from Prof Brian Moore to help your clients for whom music is an essential part of life
  • Help from Prof David Baguley to keep in touch with research that should change your practice
  • A highly recommended review of ear canal conditions and the side-effects of drugs from Dr Robert M DiSogra, a consulting audiologist in Millstone Township, New Jersey, USA
  • Guidance on objective measurement of stress and the way it impacts on both hearing and tinnitus by academic psychologist Dr James Jackson
